Deuteronomy 31:20

New International Version

²⁰When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors,^(A) and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods^(B) and worship them,^(C) rejecting me and breaking my covenant.^(D)

¹⁵Jeshurun^[a]^(A) grew fat^(B) and kicked;
filled with food, they became heavy and sleek.
They abandoned^(C) the God who made them
and rejected the Rock^(D) their Savior.

⁸They are well-fed, lusty stallions,
    each neighing for another man’s wife.^(E)
⁹Should I not punish them for this?”^(F)
    declares the Lord.
“Should I not avenge^(G) myself
    on such a nation as this?

¹⁰“Go through her vineyards and ravage them,
    but do not destroy them completely.^(H)
Strip off her branches,
    for these people do not belong to the Lord.
¹¹The people of Israel and the people of Judah
    have been utterly unfaithful^(I) to me,”
declares the Lord.
